Quake

Name: Jack

Height: 6' Weight: 175 lbs.

Born: March 25th 1977

Powers and Special Abilities:
Highly trained martial artist; able to manipulate earth and rocks, predominately to create small, focused tremors or earthquakes. It is worth noting that his natural charisma and uncanny way with people is practically a power of its own.

Virtually nothing is known about the man called 'Quake,' or his earliest childhood. He simply appeared on the scene at age 15, emerging from the chaos and ashes of his former life with a mission: He would become a hero of the people. He beheld that the system of government we had built was fundamentally flawed and served only the wealthy and powerful, criminally mistreating the impoverished and disenfranchised. He set out to learn all he could and master himself before bringing aid and awareness to the people he saw as suffering under the heel of an uncaring master.

Quake spent one year traveling from place to place using his charm and personal magnetism to find food and shelter as he sought out the skills and information he would need to do what he know he had to. Little is known about the specifics of this time, but some reports of 'inexplicable ground-tremors' occurred in tandem with stories of rescue and heroism point to his handiwork on his journey.

The next time 'Jack' appeared on the map was a year later in Detroit Michigan, where he met a young teen named Jason Klyne, a Unique who had severely burned his hands when he manifested his powers. Jack saw potential in the mouthy kid and took him under his wing and taught him how to control his powers.

Surprisingly enough, Quake - who had meant to work only alone - now had a partner, a sidekick, in 'Singe.' The two of them practiced and honed their teamwork as they watched over and protected the streets of the MotorCity. A spark was ignited in Quake, however - the spark of leadership. His life's plan, for so long a solitary mission, was beginning to evolve.

On April 18th 1994, the day New York was destroyed, Quake and Singe disappeared, going underground. Singe's Grandmother reported to the police that 'Jack' had kidnapped her grandson, but the truth was that they had headed east - to be part of the relief efforts swirling around the disaster.

For two years, they traveled around the area, giving help to the poorest people left homeless when New York City was destroyed and fighting off those who would prey on the situation. When Telepath was organizing her new team, she presented the offer to Quake and Singe, and Quake readily agreed. After all, her parents were Mentor and Kinetic - two of his role-models.

Quake knows that not everyone on this new team shares his ideologies, and methods, and so keeps some of his more radical thoughts to himself. He is content, for now, to work alongside this new team for the betterment of the people and society at large. Time will tell as to how his mission will further change as the future of the team unfolds.
