Scout is the name given to the sidekick of The Ghost. Few believe in the existence of the vigilante known as Ghost, but the name is often whispered in hushed tones in boardrooms and offices across the United States. Wherever so-called ‘white-collar’ or Corporate crime threatens the livelihood of average citizens, there are fears of the Ghost. Striking mercilessly, efficiently, and silently, Ghost lays bare the sins of man against man; rich against poor. Few have been in their presence, and none have seen their faces, but those who have reason to fear the Ghost do not go long before finding their dark pasts haunting their futures.
Ghost was a member of the League of Seven, but a falling-out with the group over the increasingly paranoid and violent methods of the vigilante led to a split in the team. As Ghost has never taken a life, no action has been taken by colleagues to prohibit or arrest the Unique crimefighter. Despite a lengthy tenure with one of the most visible and respected heroic teams, Ghost was able to remain a myth in the minds of the people, never appearing on film in any form, and never being mentioned by any teammates.
Scout began his training with Ghost when he was quite young, and it is unknown how the two came to find each other, but it was only when his parents died in an automotive accident that the 12-year-old was taken fully under the Vengeful Spirit’s tutelage. From that point, the boy lived a life under aliases, attending school under an assumed name and spending his nights prowling the rooftops of the American coasts, traveling through a series of hidden teleportation pads to secret locations across the country. Their mission is mostly one of cybernetic subterfuge - infiltrating headquarters, cracking computers, and bringing the dark truths of these criminals to light.
Perhaps not surprisingly, they have made many enemies, chief of which is Martin Dexton, known to the public as CEO of Dexton Industries, but known to Ghost and Scout as one of the most heinous criminals in the world. Many times, hired guns of Dexton have clashed with the two, and despite a decades-long enmity, the Ghost has never managed to find the evidence necessary to link the executive to the crimes they all know he’s committed.
But now, Scout has been asked to join with Telepath in her new team and her new mission. Perhaps drawing on the connections her parents had in the League of Seven, she tracked the boy down and made her offer. Feeling an urge he couldn’t quite explain - a desire to find a path for himself that could be free of the moral ambiguity of Ghost’s world, a path that he wouldn’t have to walk alone - he accepted her offer and has joined her team.
Scout is certain of his life’s purpose, and sees no greater calling than to help those who can’t help themselves, but still seeks an understanding of the man he wants to become and what he wants for himself. It is his hope that this team and these friends could be his answer. The growing rift between himself and Ghost is only exacerbated by this decision, and it remains to be seen what the future holds for either of Scout’s allegiances.
