Every day of Donna's life has been exactly like the one before. Normalcy is her prison, but no matter how badly she wants to escape she has no idea how. Everything changes the day a band of bohemian rebels explode from nowhere...

Donna White has awoken into a completely new world. Freed from the Gloom and at the rebel camp she is learning that everything she thought was important just doesn't matter. But the dark forces of the Gloom want them all back inside, and are willing to kill to make it happen. With Raina and most of the camp kidnapped by the Cleaners, Donna and the band have to decide whether to charge back into the Gloom to rescue them. Some will live, some will die, and the world will never be the same.

The enemy is defeated and the city is free! Flush with their success, our band must now turn their attention to helping the people of the city adapt to life outside the Gloom. All is not well, however, as elements within the city rebel against their freedom. Donna's family struggles with this new way of life, all while enemies move to surround the new haven of light in the Gloom. Summer is over - now comes the fall.

A cold wind blows through the liberated city. Discontent grows by the day as both rescuers and the rescued become disillusioned with each other.
